Winds are back. Peas are up. (The replanted spinach, after Charley's little stunt digging up the older seedlings, is still a no-show.) Sun's warm. I should be digging in the garden, instead of working on these dadblamed taxes. (Or trying to avoid it by cleaning out the refrigerator, scrubbing the floor -- anything that 'justifies' not working on it.) Husband has some kind of stomach flu; I've been flirting with it. Just the thing to put us in the mood.
Sigh.
While I'm finishing up, you can plan some smart ways to use your refund, thanks to Donna Freedman. Or, if you haven't gotten your taxes in yet either, some last-minute tips from Liz Weston and MSN Money. (More articles are at the bottom of the page -- don't miss them.)
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go back to work. Before I bite somebody.

Thanks for the link. Full disclosure: My taxes just got filed earlier today.
As a retired CPA I have some clues for you. I pick up my tax software in December and as the last pay or income statements and mortgage papers come in I enter them. That means that I know the worst case figures in early January. Then I know that anything else I enter is going to save me money.
I also have a large folder set up January 1st and put in paper work all year long. It is almost all in one place when it is tax time. The biggest hint is list everything in your goodwill bag before you donate. You would be surprised how fast that adds up and you give it away anyway.
Remember do something frivolous with your refund that's what the government would do with it if they kept it.

Thanks for the tips, Sharyn! When I pulled up the paperwork for 2010, I realized I'd actually done all the expenses/income collecting for Jan-April already...because I was so angry doing 2009 taxes.
Now, if I can only train myself to do this month by month, 2011 will be a lot easier.
And more full disclosure, Donna -- we gave up and got an extension. But we both are determined to get these taxes DONE by the end of the week, if at all possible, go ahead and get filed.
